Putting line on spinning reel - help

Been having trouble with a new spinning reel I bought....the line keeps jumping off when I cast. I put the line on tight, in the right motion (counter clockwise) and I'm using a light lure. It's also not over spooled.
The ONLY thing I haven't done is change the size of the line. The reel uses 6-8-10lb test and I'm using 10. Other than that, any other suggestions?
Btw, I'm using mono line.

You spooled it on the reel? If so, you have to lay the new line spool flat on the table/ground and the line has to come off the new spool in the same direction that the bale on the reel is spinning.

Also, try soaking the spool of new line in hot water for 10 minutes or so. That'll help soften it.

Yeah I made sure I did it that way.

Not sure what's wrong then. I've never had trouble doing it that way.
Another trick is to soak the new roll of line in hot water for 10 minutes to soften it a bit.

You can spray some silicon on the line. Biggest thing is to manually flip bail. But with light line and lures and the wind you're gonna have issues with a spinning reel at some point during the trip.

May have to try this. Not sure what else to do.

If it's already spooled, just open the bail with no lure on and let all the line out. Drag it in the grass or troll it behind the boat until all the line untwists.

when you're spooling it if, as you reel, you notice it starting to twist you have to flip the spool over to assure it is going on correctly...
what untralite said should fix it...

What size spinning reel is it? A 2400, 3000 or 4000? Have you ever thought about switching over to braid?
10 lb test casting a light lure is "trouble".
You could go to 6 lb braid and it would cast without problems. That's 6 lb braid that's equivalent to 15-20 lb test mono. There is a learning curve to switching over to braid. Google is your friend.
I said without problems but casting into the wind you need to be careful and make sure you don' get a loop over your spool. Learn to close your bail by hand and look down at the reel to make sure there isn't a loop over the spool.

I would bet that the line still has coils in it when it is not wound on the reel...
I would try ultralights suggestion and let it all out and drag it behind the boat for a bit...that should untwist it, if that is the issue.

Once I spool it on the reel I'll tie the end to something and walk with the rod and reel letting line out. The further the better but at least 3 times your farthest cast. Then reel.up with some tension.
Or let it out while idling down the canal and reel up before u use it.
