Who decides to start trekking thru the swamp with a cross bow at 5:15 pm? I understand the nature of public land, but can't help but feel disrespected.

I was the only truck there at 2:30.

It's uptean thousand acres, and if you're going in at prime-time just to go thrashing around, that's a lack of courtesy to other hunters.

Trust me I get its public land and have screwed up others by mistake and he had as much of a right to be there, it doesn't mean it is the right thing to do.

Dude saw Luke Bryan shoot one on a stalk and figured he could do it too.

It's one road in, end of said road. I could hear him pull up.

knowing the particulars of the area would probably help paint the picture better. I try to account for people more than I do for deer but failed tonight.

Again if it's me and I'm going do whatever it was he was doing during prime-time, I'm sure as hell gonna want to do that away from others - out of courtesy and common sense. Just like I wouldn't want to set up downwind 150 yards away duck hunting from someone else after they're there. Sure I can, but that's a dick move.

I have a hard time staying quiet through that muck, but this cat was taking branches down with him left and right. I think even Luke Bryan would have been more legit.

Hunted public land for most of my life. Lease my own now. Could be setting up for tomorrow and is dissapointed seeing you out there. That wil happen some times and we just have to deal with it. Try to use human pressure to your advantage as often as possible. Keep in mind you may be hunting in "his" spot that he has scouted previously

If a truck is there, I don't stop.
I was deer hunting last year on Kisatchie and some dumbasses decided to squirrel hunt in front of me. I heard them stop on the road, but assumed they'd go on the other side. I realized where they went when some gray movement in my scope turned out to be a man's head. He didn't have a stitch of orange on during deer season.
A lot of people have no sense, and more have no respect.

if you heard him pull up on said dead end road, on public land, it's your fault he walked up on your stand regardless of time, you violated rule #1 when hunting public land, that is walk in further than you believe anyone would disturb you and then find a spot even further into the woods and set up for your hunt undisturbed...

It was a gamble but it was a Sunday afternoon, bow season (the place is pretty dead) and it's not an easy access even though you can hear the road activity.

My gripe is when he did what he did more than anything.

gripe all you want, it's public land, you'll become a better hunter when you learn to use that disturbance to your advantage...

Believe it or not but you have no complaint. He has an equal complaint that you were in "his spot". I have a complaint about you having issue with another hunter. Even though I do no hunt where ever you are, my complaint about it, is equal to yours. IT IS PUBLIC LAND. There are no rules. You got there at 2:30 he couldn't make it till 5:15, cause he had shite to do. Only thing you need to get over is yourself. You do not set the hunting times are schedules and neither do I or him. If you don't like it buy a lease or stay home. I hope he leaves a ladder stand or some hooks in a tree out there so you can get down out of your feelings! Disrespected my arse!

Where were you yesterday evening?

Dude I get the public land thing. It's about common sense and courtesy to other hunters is all.
