Keep a 2-3 feet heavy chain and some quick links on board while traveling....I spun a bearing today and was nearly screwed in Luling. Luckily was by a NAPA store just before close and got chain and last quick link to chain up axle and limp home on 3 tires. I keep a spare hub but the race was stuck on spindle...stressful but made it home.

Took tire and caliper off hub, secured with bungee to trailer frame. Jacked up axle as high as possible, took chain and wrapped around axle (tight) and connected with quick link, the wrapped chain up and over trailer frame and into same quick link. It basically keeps the tire-less side of axle high off ground. I'll post a pic in am

It's ok if the 1 tire can handle the weight

I carry a spare hub and spare wheel/tire but have been very fortunate over the years

Did this exact thing with a stock trailer one night. Drove home from Ville Plat to Addis with no problems. Just didn't go very fast.

I had to do that to get home from Grand Isle one time. Luckily, I had a length of chain in my truck. It's one of the reasons that I don't like tandem axle trailers.

I had I do this on a single axle trailer one time. Talk about a bumpy ride home.
