Unless you want to own a lot of land, do not go further west than San Antonio. I'm in west Texas for work and it blows.

West of SA doesn't mean "west Texas". Some of the most beautiful parts of Texas are west of SA.

The only thing with retiring in Texas is the property taxes, on a decent size home you will pay $10K a year. Mine are $7.5K but I have a kid in school.

I'd look at North La, you could get twice the land at half the price, and half the people.

Govment gonna get there money one way or the other sales. tax, income tax or property tax. Being retired property taxes bother me... but like I said. They gonna get it one way or...

I hated Dallas, but I like trees and grass and not being surrounded by assholes.
