That's a pretty specific scenario you got there. I agree that you should not do anything that would negatively affect a neighboring property, and should be legally held responsible for such.
The issue is the ability to repair what is lost is marginal at best. Once the damage is done, it's done. The risk is too great.

I don't know how you guys are driving your mud boats, but I have rarely seen where somebody has done any serious damage to property with one
I see it all the time. Ponds that use to hold redfish and healthy aquatic grass have been more or less destroyed from surface drives hauling arse up the small creek entrances and eroding the banks to the point the tidal flow of the ponds is altered. These ponds are too numerous to count. A very good example would be the leases surrounding PAC and the WMA itself. That place has been divested by the use of surface drives.

If parts of my own property are only accessible by a long tail mud motor, but now I can't get there because of mudmotortalk thundercats rooster tailing through the marsh got them banned I would be pissed
Suck it up and paddle. We have to do something to protect the marsh. If you got a better idea, now is the time.

It just seems unfair to the majority of responsible mud motor owners
The same can be said for a lot of things. I can run just as shallow as a surface drive with a jack plate and tunnel so I tend to agree it's unfair for those out there that are responsible. Again, if you have a better idea, speak up or forever hold your peace.
We need to do something or else the marsh will be destroyed by greed. We MUST protect this resource and right now we are doing a piss poor job of doing so. The good ole days are right now if we don't make a change. Do you want to be telling your grand kids how you could occasionally shoot an entire limit of ducks?

Fortunately I am able to paddle and don't mind it, but there are a lot of people who physically can't paddle around.

I have no doubt you can run just as shallow, but what about areas with stumps? I have a place in Manchac and rarely do I get in water less than 1ft deep, but the amount of stumps and sunken trees would tear an outboard up.

I totally agree and I do believe that some restrictions should be put in place. I understand that mud motors are causing a lot of damage in certain places, but not everywhere.

I think a HP limit would help a lot. It would limit the damage from these hopped up motors. I also think more limited access areas in places with a lot of traffic would help a lot. I think they should be banned in certain places as well, but the mentality to just ban them statewide is overboard.

Fly over the marsh in a helicopter one day. You can see trails all over the place from mud motors. Weather they are from long tail or surface drive I'm not sure first hand. I've been told it's surface drives but I can't say that for sure.
One thing I am sure you can see the trails from above the mud motors leave behind.

You know what I want the wildlife and fisheries to do?
Make the limit 3 and the season 30 days for about 5 years. This will solve all the problems we have with these asshats. It will "trim the fat"

I agree with most everything you said, with the exception of this.
There comes a time in everyone's life where you can no longer do certain things, it's part of getting old. I don't feel that is a valid enough reason to open up our tidal marsh to potential erosion issues from surface drives.
The harsh reality of this whole situation is a lot of people are going to have to reevaluate they way they hunt. Get poling platform and a push pole if you need to get skinny. If grandpa can't paddle a pirogue anymore, someone may have to pole or paddle his arse around.
Adapt or die.

Then I could finally kill a limit
