This will be the first year we do this in our cut. Any advice would be appreciated. We have an island blind in the middle of a 31 acre cut. How much of the cut should we plant? Spots here and there? Just around the blind? Do I use the recommended lbs/acre the bag recommends? Should I bump it up a little? Please, ohh wise ones of the OB, help me out.

I would go all the way around the island if possible. 10-15lb per acre. 50lb bag cost about 30 bucks. We do 4 acres with 2 50lb bags.

I plan on starting at the blind, and circling around widening each go round until we have a large enough area, or I run out of seeds. I have 200 lbs of seed so I doubt I will run out before we have enough area planted.

I was concerned about planting some out of range of the blind. But I guess if we decoy the blind, they would likely come within range of the blind. At least early in the season?

Would geese wipe out 5 or 6 acres of millet over night?

Geese can wipe out way more than that in a night

So I may show up to my cut one morning and the entire field may be wiped out?

Well, there will, without a doubt, have a bunch of snow geese out there.

Hunted an island blind...rice field...
full stuble in the field...missed 3 days during the season and when I got back the geese had hit it...
made it look like the middle of Lake Ponchatrain...

Must be nice to have these kinds of problems. I wouldn't know. Public land sucks nutsacks

Public land probably sucks, but it also sucks to pay a lot of money every year for a location to hunt, not knowing whether or not we will have a decent year. Last year we killed 63 ducks in my blind, and 20 or so of those were probably opening weekend. And before anyone asks why I continue to pay, its because we may be having some slow years, but when it isn't slow, I'll have a place to hunt.
