Finally got a bridge across this creek behind my house and damn at all the water fowl. Looks to be several retention ponds that were never used and ducks, cranes and 2 pink flamingos were out there. My daughter saw them and asked what they were, they were flying about 50 feet above us and I couldnt believe it.

Sure they were flamingos? There are other birds that are not as tall as flamingos that are pink too! Were you live? I could take care of the ducks for you.

They were most likely Roseate Spoonbills.

Their plummage varies in color from nearly white to almost red depending on how many crustaceans they eat.

Yeah, we call them Grobeck. Depending what they eat, their plumage will differ in color

Grobeck is a "cow bird". Scarlet ibis is not the same thing and I don't think they change colors, although I may be wrong. All you coonass boys call em something the means "crooked nose" and I can't spell it. By the way, they taste like shite.

Many people have mistaken them for flamingos.

this. We see them by our lease. The first time they were spotted was by a friend of mine who rarely hunts. He pulled me aside and said he knows i will think he's crazy but he thought he saw a flamingo fly by.

He was right, i ribbed him for a long time until we evertually starting seeing them.

That is 99.999% likely true, Flamingos barely make it to Florida and they are simply not found in Louisiana unless recently released from captivity.
