My wife just inherited 44 acres off of Hwy 70 right outside of Pierre Part and was wondering if the hunting around that area is any good.

No idea about the hunting, but i wish my wife would inherit something. Besides bills.

If it is any good I bet someone is hunting it already

This is what I was thinking. I have tried to contact adjacent land owner many of times but no luck.

That is the plan but I am waiting till Hunting season is over, I am not about to get shot by some local who thinks he owns that land.

Im sure, go scout it out. We used to rent that red barn on hwy 70 between lake end park and doirons landing. Doiron (the owner) use to import deer to his property. On a normal night there would be 40-50 deer in the pasture. Walked up on several large bucks on horseback thru that area.

anyway OP, scout it out and throw out some cameras, report and tell me where your land is

I drive LA 70 from MC to BR several times a month. Depending on the land, the area is good for hunting for wood ducks, deer, and squirrels. Of course, she may have inherited an empty field with no trees, so... Have you seen the property yet?

few years back when visiting my In-Laws, I went to that fireworks joint near the school at night. Holy smokes!! Deer were all over back there

From what I heard, the parish got involved because the deer were over populated and would wonder out onto hwy 70 at night and cause car wrecks all the time. My dad would go to feed the horses around 2-3am before heading out of town and Mr. Doiron would be sitting in his truck in the back of the pasture watching his field to make sure no one was hunting on it.

Property is all wooded, looks like some cypress and oaks. I will report back once I go scout it out. Thanks for the info guys. If you look on google earth, you will see a pipeline north of hwy 70 right outside of Pierre part, it's not far from that.
