I had a 2007 F250 4x4 with the 6.0 that would not get any better than 14 unloaded. It would average 10 mpg pulling the TT.I could run a hill at 70 mph without it downshifting but it still sucked fuel.
My 2014 Chevy 2500HD 4x4 with the 6.0 gas gets the same fuel mileage loaded and about 15.5 unloaded on the road.I can live with the downshifting when its loaded.Diesels will have to come way down in price to be practical for the majority to justify it.

There are a lot of programmers that can get boost your mpg....but I would not recommend them unless you are beyond any factory warranties.
Our Express and E series diesel vans would get significantly better MPG than the truck chassis vehicles with the same engine (up to mid 20s if you can believe it). I believe both have a different factory tune than the pickups have, with much lower output out of the same engines.

should have known this was a Pro Mopar thread

The Ram HD 2500 is our pick for best overall three-quarter-ton pickup equipped with a gas engine.
It dominated our test events, winning 10 of 16 events and scoring a first-place finish with each of our judges. The Ram definitely offered the best interior and had the best ride of the three, comfortably traversing just about every smooth and broken tarmac surface.
Damn. Right.
that being said, imo those results were clearly anti-ford bias

It was a subtle brag, but I like general truck discussion as well. I don't think there was a clear anti Ford bias though. Normally that site is very pro-Ford. The former editor of the site actually left to go work for Ford in their marketing department or something. I think they just found compared to the other two the F250/350 is dated, which will be changing soon anyway.
