Picking up my WPG from the airport in 2 weeks. It has been a long wait. Flying her in from Glendale Griffons in Iowa. She will be pure breed and AKC approved. Planning on training her for upland birds. Pretty excited to get started with her training.

Looking for a vet in the Baton Rouge. Any information on one would be greatly appreciated.

Here are a few pictures:

And here are the sire and dam:

Nice lookin pup sir. You have a name for her? I have a 14weeek old GWP Drahthaar at home. Just updated my thread earlier but it may have fallen to page 2 if you want to take a look. Are you going to train yourself?

Appreciate it, Ill have to see if I can track our post down. For her name, decided to go with Remington. I plan on training her myself. A few weeks back I invested in a copy of "Gun Dog" by Richard Wolters. It was a great read and definitely worth the $25. I have never trained a dog in upland so we will see how it goes.

Congrats on the great looking pup. I just picked up my WPG pup a week ago. He will be going to train with Rocky Homesley (Rock Haven Farms) in NC this August. I hope to pick him up in late October and head to Kansas and South Dakota.

I appreciate it. I saw and read your post. I have been checking back at your thread the past few days to hear more about him/her. In all honesty, I didn't think I would come across another WPG owner in the area haha

I also plan on training mine for waterfowl, upland, and possibly blood tracking. Keep us updated on the progress.

As goes for you. I am really curious how yours will preform after the training. You have any pics of our pup?

So far, so good. Key to my pup is to keep him busy, frequent walks and don't take your eyes off him, they, like most pups love to chew. I've already given up on not allowing pup on my lap while on couch. He seems to need to be touching you at all times. I am crate training him while at work and nightly with some success. Hint, don't put pup in crate and let him hear you or TV talk, lots of whining. Only hard thing about pup is during our socialization outings people will flock to you and ask what kind of dog is that, to which I respond, wire hair pointing griffon and then I feel like I'm an announcer at the Westminster Kennel Club.
