I purchased two Pflueger Presidents with 6'6" Allstar Pro rods. I highly recommend the reels. They are fricking awesome. Bout to go tear up the moss backs in Chicot and Spring Bayou!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chicot and Spring Bayou - my old stomping grounds when I was a kid.

Be sure to post a report.

As for the Pflueger reels - I agree with you. They are nice!!! Along with the Revo´s!!

People say there isn't any fish in Spring Bayou anymore.....I beg to differ. My dad started Fin's and Feather's hunting and fishing club back in the day and wrote a weekly article in the journal called rod, trap, and blind. Just gotta fish it alot, and it will pay off.

My dad still fishes Spring Bayou a bit. Still has a good population of white perch but not so many bass. He went last week and caught 10 wp and 2 bass plus the ever popular Choupique!

Spring Bayou is really a pitty. In the 1970´s it was an absolute paradise with all of the big bass and fantastic duck hunting. Now all the siltation and out of control grass have made it a poor to average fishery.

FWIW - there is not one single buttonwood bush or cypress tree in all of Spring Bayou that I have not casted around or hidden in for ducks.

I have a Pfleuger Patriarch on a Cabelas XML rod that I got almost two years ago. Didn't get to do much fishing last year, just went out to a pond and caught a few this last weekend. I almost forgot how much I love that thing. They're great reels.

I have the same reel and I love it. It's so smooth. Not quite as good as my ambassador but still nice to use.

I bought my wife a Pflueger President spinning reel and must say it is a damn fine spinning reel with zero back play for much less than a comparable shimano. Think I paid around $100 at Academy for the reel.

I hope to get back to Spring Bayou soon. I sooo miss the Big Larry tournament and the white perch biting in lac tete de boeuf well into June.

Alxtgr,

if you fished all of the Big Larry tournaments then I probably know you.

Do you know Big Larry passed away last year?

No, did not know. Sorry to hear.

Once the Saline perch bite ends for me, I'm going to go to Spring Bayou just to see what's up.
