Panama City Beach Charter Fishing

I'll be there with that family next week. My son (11) wants to go fishing offshore for snapper and what not. The season will be open according to the Captain Andersons webpage. I've looked at a couple others and they all seem to be about the same price, that is a factor as I'm not an OT Baller by any means.
My questions.
Have any of you taken a party boat out of PCB or nearby? I'm willing to drive a little if the boat ride to fishing grounds is shorter.
Is there one that you've been on personally that you would recommend?

Hey Ched
There are two definitely I'd check with
Captain Phillip Wild at Anchored Charters LINK
Captain Mike Sullivan at LINK
Both of whom I'd recommend highly......If you choose Anchored, tell Capt Phil you'd like to catch some top-water snappers.....it's crazy.
Tight lines and fair seas.......both would be great with your son. Neither are party boats, if you decide to go with a party boat, ask them at Capt Anderson's which boat Captain Ken Anderson is running, he's forgotten more numbers than most. Have fun

Interesting. I'm going to bookmark this because I'll be in PCB in July and I have no clue of anything to do but hang out with the family at the beach.

There's St Andrews Square/marina, with lots to do. You can rent kayaks there I believe from SunJammers, Brad is the owner.
Also, one of the greatest tackle shops anywhere is BlueWater Outriggers in Port St Joe about 45 minutes from PCB......worth the time driving over just to see the store decor(incredible mounts and more) and talk some fishing with George the owner.
Pier fishing(2 long arse of them) is crazy good at times......kings, cobia etc. If I remember correctly think someone caught a wahoo off it last year.
I love PC/PCB and I'm not a go hang on the beach person at all.....the fishing in surf is great at times too.
Another great resource is Bay County Outdoors LINK

I went last year with Ashton on the Showtime. We had a blast and caught plenty of fish, snapper, grouper, mahi, and king mackerel. He's a young guy but knows his stuff. Also he has AC in the cabin which is nice for a quick cool down between spots.

Just bookmarked too, cause I will be there June 24-29 and don't know what we're going to do besides hang out on the beach either

I'll give a run down when I return. So far the kids want to go to the wildlife center, water park, shell island to snorkel and my son wants to fish.
I want to sit in the shade and look at bikinis.

I think it was $150/hr, we went on a 12hr trip so I'm guessing I paid about $2400 after tips, bait and having the fish cleaned. It was more than worth it!! We have always done the party boat thing but with my dad's age and health that was probably his trip so I wanted to do something a little special for him. I will never do the party boat trip again!

We ended up just doing a 5hr on the North Star Express out of Captain Anderson's Marina. It was pretty rough when we got out. My son had a real good time, only thing he didn't like is the slow boat ride. We caught a stringer of beeliners, no Red Snapper. It was a good afternoon and a nice day away from the girls. The good thing is he handle the seas like a champ so I wouldn't hesitate to take him on a more extensive charter off the LA coast.
