Idk about that. Seems like it would be below cost at that point.

Never ordered a gun online. If I order a gun should I call the FFL holder before it gets there and give them a heads up? Do they only hold it for so long? Do they charge a fee for it being shipped to them and turning it over to me?

Yes. Fees depend on which do you send it to. For the most part they are around 20 dollars

That's not necessary, especially if the place you order from already has the FFL info on file. My FFL dealer by me calls me when they receive anything I order.

Yes. FFL's charge a transfer fee which includes performing your background check. It's usually anywhere from $20-$40. Call around and ask your local gun shops what they charge.

When you are going thru the checkout process you'll be asked where u want to send the gun for FFL transfer. You can usually put in your zip code and the website will show u a list of nearby gun shops that they already have in their system and should include contact info. Call a few and see what they charge.

Anything more than $25 is ridiculous

Very much agree. The LGS that's .8 miles from my house does them for $25. So that's my go to.

If it's your first time using that particular FFL it's probably best to call and ask all of the questions you listed. Each FFL handles transfers differntly and it probably best you find out how they do it before getting a gun shipped there. Depending how they operate you may not need to call for any future orders. Also, third party vendors are not associated with the FFL you are sending the gun to and your online vendor's "file system" may not be accurate, could not have your dealers correct address or could be listing a dealer that is no longer in business or out of town. I wouldn't advise blindly getting anything shipped anywhere.

Wasn't there a guy on here that did it for 10-15? Thought he was around BR.

I think so. Can never remember his name though.

But I'm in Mandeville so that doesn't help me anyway.
