I've always had the same notion. I was told they can search for illegal game without a warrant even in your home. I've never had to deal with it though so idk.

So LDWF can enter a home without a warrant to search for illegal game, but a cop cannot enter without a warrant to search for illegal weapons?
In the process of a warrant-less search for illegal game, what happens if an LDWF officer finds other illegal items (drugs, guns, etc.)?

If other items are found then they can be charged with that also. Same as a search for drugs revealing stolen property

We were told by our CCP instructor that LDWF agent has more power than LSP. They can conduct warrant less searches at anytime, anywhere. Not saying its a fact, just what I was told. Class was at Jim's BTW

Provided that search is in performance of his/her duties and withing the ability to search you, i.e. your boat/ice chest then you'd be charged for the drugs/guns etc

They can in certain cases, but they can't show up at your house and demand entry to look in your freezer or in your backyard.

The thing to remember about any search done by any LEO is that they always want to perform a search with warrant in hand. No officer wants to so a search believing he has probable cause and have everything throw out later.

True, I'm just trying to clear up the fact that people think a GW can show up and demand to start looking through their truck/house when in most cases they can't.
Just like if you're walking through the woods and a GW stops you asks for your hunting license. If you never told him you were hunting, then he can't prove that you were. You could be on your way to/from shooting cans or trees for all he knows.

This is the what I meant by open to interpretation. Say you are pulling your boat. Say you have an ATV in the back. Say you're wearing camo driving down a gravel road.
I've heard stories of cops getting LWF agents to stop and search vehicles that they don't have cause to search. "Well, sir, I see a fishing rod in the back seat there....."

You cannot be just stopped for any of that listed above.
Now if you have a deer strapped to the back of said ATV then that's a different story.

Yeah, and in most cases they are just that...stories.
You having a fishing rod doesn't mean anything, you could be on your way to go fishing in your private pond. In which case you dont need a license.

The 4th Amendment also applies to GWs. They are still subject to the warrant requirement.

I know peaople that had their charges dropped b/c of that. They were given a ticket b/c the GW "thought" they were hunting and during the interview they simply stated they were target shooting.
Got a ticket, went to court...beat it.
