So I hunt deer and do some coyote pest control but I don't do any duck hunting. However last season I went duck hunting with a friend from school and liked it a lot! Because the season just ended, there are of course good sales on firearms. I decided to order a Mossberg 535 ATS Waterfowl Semi-auto 12 gauge. It looks like a good gun from the reviews and I know Mossberg makes great guns from what I've heard. Would just like to hear from those of you who have or have owned this gun, or if you would recommend something that's a lot better as I can still cancel the order before tomorrow.

Also bought some necessary equipment that was on sale too!

Awesome. Welcome to the addiction. Reminds me that my gun needs a good cleaning on this awesome day.

I'm looking for a new turkey gun. Where did you get it and for how much?

Local Boone, NC gun store has an order coming in and said they'll sell me one for $369 in camo if I reserve one (pay up front). They had it listed for $399 but we come in all the time so they dropped another $30.

good catch, chessie...I would recommend a pump gun for beginners anyway, though...

let's just hope OP knows what he is getting!....

Edit: wait I'm about to call up the shop owner you might be right.

I looked up the model number and it came up on Gander Mountain (I've heard of it but there isn't a local one) listed as semi-auto as well but I'll check gimme a sec.

You were right it was falsely listed as semi-auto. He said I can either add $85 for the semi-auto 930 or he'll drop the shipping fee for the inconvenience on the 535.

I think I'll stick with this gun since I don't have $75 extra right now.

And to anyone thinking his shop is kinda fishy with prices, it's really not, we've bought 2 700's a 770 and other guns and god knows how much ammo from him he's made enough off of us to take a small hit if even.

I have been blessed with not liking Browning guns somehow so my pockets are safer than they would've been otherwise. The thing I love more about duck than deer hunting (what I've done ever since I was very little) after hunting duck once is that when hunting deer you're like, shoot I didn't get any today, while with duck you're like, shoot I just shot my limit.
