Is it a good carry gun or a GREAT carry gun? Pros and Cons? How is the Performance Center version better (I mean I know technically how, but is it REALLY better)?

Pros: great size, pretty good trigger, light, easily concealable, great sights, can be had for around $350, not a Glock.

Cons: nothing to complain about.

I have one and put an Apex trigger in it. I really like the gun and most of the time it is my go to carry gun. So far mine has not had any hang ups. Very easy to conceal. If anything it'd wish it had a little more capacity.

Really the two options I recomend if someone is to really conceal is a shield or a glock. And I'm a glock guy soo that's gotta say something. They are a great deal as well for what you get. Out of the box the smith wins hands down versus the glock

I'm an M&P fan. I have the 9c and full size 45. I need to get a shield though because the double stacks are tougher to conceal.

I've never fired one but some problems on message boards ( problems) and the M&P got booted from the US Military competition pretty early. I would go w/ a Glock or Walther PPS M2.

Go with the Glock. I carry a Glock 19 concealed everyday.

Don't you love the full size 45? It rocks! But for carry, I love my shield.

I think the performance center model addressed the two biggest cons. Sights and trigger

There's a reason why everyone says to buy it. Even diehard Glock fanboys would suggest one

Exactly what I was coming to say. Yes, there's some complaints about the stock trigger but that's fixable with an aftermarket trigger if it bothers you too much. It's comfortable to both shoot and conceal and is extremely reliable.

I had a buddy sell me one last year for $250. Great gun, easy to conceal, and have had zero problems with it.

Right now you can get them fairly cheap. I say grab you one.

I'm a diehard Glock and Hk vp9 guy. The Shield is the PERFECT conceal carry because it has a thumb safety. Anything I don't carry in a safariland holster I want it to have a thumb safety. When it's cold I throw this thing right in my coat pocket.

Yeah, he traded an expensive shotgun to a dude for S&W M&P Shield 9mm, a S&W M&P Shield .40, and cash. He didn't really want the 9mm and knew I was about to buy a new one so he made me a deal.

Now, if I only had a friend trying to sell a CZ 97b for a great price.
