Looking for a gun to keep in my truck on the farm. Been eyeing the Henry big boy’s In 44mag. Does anyone have any experience with them?

My son has a 22 Henry lever. It started developing some surface rust. I called Henry and they said send it back. They swapped the lever and sent it back . No charge. They stand behind their products.

I should add I had that I had a very similar experience with Henry. During the whole Covid shite show I had a firing pin break on a very old very well used golden boy. Well turns out Henry change their design on the firing pins a long time ago and my gun couldn’t be fixed. So just over a week later I got home from work and there was a brand new golden boy sitting on my front porch free of charge. So I am more than impressed with Henry’s customer service too. I just have never had experience with the big boy series.

That thing will rust quick if you don't keep it oiled down.

Got the carbine with large loop in 357 mag several weeks back. Still haven't shot it, but man it sure looks sweet. Gonna deer hunt with it.

I've got it in brass but, honestly, either the old New Haven JM stamped Marlins are better or the new Ruger Marlins. Stay away from the Remlins imho.

As for it being a "truck gun" ... there are better options.

For years I had (still have) an 1894P (ported) in 44 mag on ky back window rack of my F150 when cruising the back 40.

These days I keep a P320 on the seat of the farm truck for yotes and pigs. A lot quicker and handier ... but I do keep an AR on the rack in 300 blk with super sonics. Lehigh defence max expansion loaded to about 2200 fps.

Leverguns are fun. I own a lot of them in a lot of variations (am famous for them among Marlin men) but, they are not the superior truck guns these days.

I'll try to post some pics of my JM Marlins when I'm sober.

I’m in love with the look of the new Marlin 1894. That’s the one I want. But the Henry I’m sure is fine too.

I’ve looked into the new ruger marlins and I’ve really considered them also. Aesthetically they look more appealing than the Henry and personally having a tube mag on something other than a 22 just feels wrong. The only real reason I’ve ever considered the Henry over the Marlin is just my experience with Henry’s customer service. Also, I have an AR as my truck gun right now and it won’t be leaving any time soon because I need something to keep a thermal on for hogs. Having a lever gun handy is mainly just to feel like Gus McCrae
