Anyone have experience with online gun auctions? How does it work?

just like a regular auction.
If you do win the bid, you arrange transfer of the firearm to a local FFL and do background check.
Just be aware that local FFL will charge you for doing that and you may be better off finding it at a local store than by bidding.

Have used gunbroker a few times, on some older firearms I couldn't find locally for a decent price (Ruger Camp Carbine, 44mag carbine, etc). Just make sure it is a reputable seller with good reviews, and have a local FFL on standby ready to do the transfer. Was easy peasy.

Watch out for transaction fees, buyer’s premium, cost of shipping and FFL transfer, most times I have found the deals really are not deals once everything is factored in
