Looks like it kicks off Tuesday the 11th. The pedal yaks dominated last year's event and look to do the same this year. Looks like most of the big players have some cool stuff coming out. Sorry boaters, but you can make your own thread.

Haven't seen anything from Hobie. Nucanoe and Feel Free have a lot coming out. Not sure about Jackson, Native, or Wilderness Systems either.

I can't see the hype behind this kayak, what is unique about it? That you can straddle the seat and stand on the gunwales? Doesn't sound like a very comfortable position.

The show starts today. All quiet on the Hobie front right now. They have to have something new.

I think it's just a new kayak which was designed and built by one of the most respected names in the kayak fishing circles. It was designed from the start for fishing and will have some unique features. I don't think it's anything earth shattering, but new blood in the market from someone with his pedigree should at least continue to push the segment forward. It seems like the last several years the industry has focused on building pedal and motor drive yaks instead of continuing to innovate on the fishing side of things.

One aspect of it that really interests me is the weight. I think they said it'll weigh around 70lb. Hopefully the bigher name companies will take notice and offer more full featured kayaks in this weight range instead of the heavy offerings currently out there. I know my predator mx weighs in at around 85lbs and can sometimes be a bear to get to some of the harder to reach places that I fish. Shaving off 20% of its weight would be awesome.

It looks ok. I'm only interested in pedal kayaks and once again I think that will dominate ICAST this year.
