I've been looking at BCM

So, far, I'm a fan of BCM. Not perfect, but a really good balance of price, quality workmanship, quality materials, options, etc. They do favor KMR if that's a dealbreaker. I was going to go all M-Lok, thinking Magpul will drive the industry in that direction. I have since tabled that and am agnostic, currently, on attachment system.

For Mrs. Midnight's build (which is back on for this Fall) - I'm probably going to try a Daniel's Defense upper, so I can do BCM and DD comparisons side-by-side.

Ballistic Advantage and FN CHF barrels have been my favorites. The only short barrel I have been happy with is a BA.

Cheap 2 stage trigger, RRA National Match and JP Springs.

Any of you AR10 guys looking for ammo. Sportsmans guide has Hirtenberger 240 rds 147 gr for $129. They have double discount for member right now as well. I shot some of this through my SCAR this weekend and its really accurate clean shooting stuff.

Aero Precision it is

Thats a good choice. I tried the Anderson lower and upper for my 300 blk build and it has a little wiggle. Pretty sick with it.
Prop, I saw on your site you have the lower that I like. I have one from SF Amory Inc that I really liked but they went out of business. Your lowers are exactly like it. Next time I'm in BR I'm going to swing by and pick one up for my 300 blk.

The MK1 billets or the SFR-1 forged with the M16 style fully milled FCG pockets? Either way, holler next time you're in BR or we can ship it to your friendly neighborhood FFL.

On a side note, that reminds me there is a stipulation where a licensee (FFL) can ship a firearm directly to an individual who is a resident of the same state as the licensee so long as the sale does not require a NICS background check. So, if you have a concealed carry permit (valid, issued after 3-9-15 and non-lifetime) or you purchase a silencer post 41F you are eligible to have dealers in your state ship you guns directly or ship you NFA items directly (post stamp approval). It seems like a little bit of a paperwork headache and I would need to look at the regs a little closer to be certain of all the details, but its something I have thought about starting to do since I travel all over the state for shows.

quote:

27 CFR 478.96(b)
(b) A licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, or licensed dealer may sell a firearm that is not subject to the provisions of § 478.102(a) to a nonlicensee who does not appear in person at the licensee's business premises if the nonlicensee is a resident of the same State in which the licensee's business premises are located, and the nonlicensee furnishes to the licensee the firearms transaction record, Form 4473, required by § 478.124. The nonlicensee shall attach to such record a true copy of any permit or other information required pursuant to any statute of the State and published ordinance applicable to the locality in which he resides. The licensee shall prior to shipment or delivery of the firearm, forward by registered or certified mail (return receipt requested) a copy of the record, Form 4473, to the chief law enforcement officer named on such record, and delay shipment or delivery of the firearm for a period of at least 7 days following receipt by the licensee of the return receipt evidencing delivery of the copy of the record to such chief law enforcement officer, or the return of the copy of the record to him due to the refusal of such chief law enforcement officer to accept same in accordance with U.S. Postal Service regulations. The original Form 4473, and evidence of receipt or rejection of delivery of the copy of the Form 4473 sent to the chief law enforcement officer shall be retained by the licensee as a part of the records required of him to be kept under the provisions of subpart H of this part.

Mk1. I don't have my CC. I took the class, kept forgetting about the paperwork then it expired. Need to take it again. My MIL lives in BR so I'm there fairly often. I'm not in a hurry so I don't need it shipped to my ffl. Want to swing by and check out your shop anyways. Do you have a billet upper to go with the lower? If not hows the fit on the forged upper?

The shipping thing isn't something we are doing yet, but possibly in the future after some due diligence. Our MK1 lowers come cerakoted, so as in inherent with cerakoted uppers/lowers, the fit is usually tighter than mosquito pussy. It would be best to place the order online a day or so before you plan on coming by to make sure we have the color you want in stock and we'll have it picked and ready for you when you come in town. We have some billet uppers coming in soon, 3-4 weeks. They usually go pretty quick when we get them in. The forged uppers work with the MK1 lowers just as well though if you don't want to wait or miss the next batch of billet uppers.

I'll probably just get the forged upper then if its going to be a good fit. I'd want the upper, lower and rail in burnt bronze. I assume I can just mail you the rail? Probably order the upper and send you the rail soon so when I get the lower it will be good to go.

Cool. Just type what I want done with my contact info and put it in the box? How do you do payments? I don't see where I can prepay for cerakote. Do you just call me for my CC info when you receive the rail?

Typically we send a special link to pay once the work is done and it is ready to ship so the return shipping price is accurate. Since, you are picking yours up, if I understand correctly, then you can just pay then.

Nah, I'll have you send the rail back. I'm going to order the upper then build it. Next time I'm going to BR I'll swing by and pick up the lower. Shooting it this weekend so I'll probably send you over the rail next week.

I figured I'd share the AR-15 I built. Its my first one (built or pre-built) so I went in not knowing much other than what I read here and other forums. I'm happy with the way it turned out.

Ended up researching Ballistic Advantage more and went with one of their barrels.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Found out this year's West Texas dove trip includes a night hog hunt. So I'm now the market for a weapon light for my AR. I've got an Inforce APL that I could slap on but looking for one that I can keep on the rifle.

What says the OB?
