Magpul MOE SL in midlength seems like it would be the least amount of work. Preferl the thinner profile of the SL but the MOE with Mlok would work too.

My recent build (14.5/carbine) topped off with a MLOK MOE handguard. That was more of a bear than I thought it would be. I had to get Mrs. Midnight and 2 of my children involved.

Sounds like a point in the win column for KeyMod

The MOE SL handguards are an absolute bitch to put on. You pretty much have to bring it to the point of snapping at least once. The regular MOE ones aren't bad unless your delta ring is super tight, but then everything is a pain in the arse to get on when that's the case.

MLOK does everything KeyMod does, except it is non-directional. That gives it the edge in my book.

Oh and MLOK doesn't look like a trail of penii going down your rail

Those canted mounts are ok, but they block the heat shield vents on the handguard.

Yea, but the ones on the gas block or lug are too far forward to practically mount a light without a switch

What's wrong with a tape switch?

The guy I'm building for is already complaining about the money in the build, trying to do this as cheaply as possible.

ETA: I built the entire rifle for $487, he is having a hard time understanding why the red dot, mount, light, mount, mags and ammo cost over half of the rifle

Tell him he only needs 2 of those things.

What did you build? Sorry if you already said it. I haven't been keeping up with this thread.

All PSA stuff, nothing you don't see in their daily deals section.

Anyone ever get a blemished upper or lower? How bad are they really? I'm planning on cerakoting anyway. Will that hide the blemishes pretty well?

If you're cerekoting, it doesn't matter. They strip the metal.

My blem lowers have next to nothing wrong with them. Visually.

Not all places. For example, Noveske anodizes then Cerakotes their higher tier guns.

What's difference is cerakote and durakote? Which one do you recommend and why?
