They just posted this on FB

quote:

Holy Hell. Folks, we apologize as we work on the issue with the website. Our webmaster assured us that we were good for thousands of simultaneous hits. They are frantically working on the problem. If this cannot get resolved shortly, we will skip tonights launch and start over tomorrow at the pre scheduled time. Unfortunately, we make gun products, not websites. Rest assured, somebody's going to get an arse whipping....

Does AR15news give you a heads up for many sites that will launch products?

Looks like their website issues are causing the OOS notice, but I doubt it gets resolved in the next hour or 4. They've been promoting their launch for those lowers for months, and to only launch with 100 in this market is just absolutely nucking futs.

AR15News will do a heads up when someone has lowers and sometimes uppers in stock. I was following them before the SHTF and they had updates on stuff all the time. Lately it's been hit or miss, not much stuff out there, but it's also how I found the Brownell's stripped lower pre-sale for $99.

As long as there are a few of us in here, I have about $230 in Amazon credit coming to me from trading in some textbooks. I'd like to get a light and laser for my AR. They can be separate or a combo unit but I'd like to stay under $250 total. Any suggestions?

You can get an Elzetta light and mount for about $200.

Or a Viridian C5L light/laser for about $275. It's designed for pistol, but will fit on an AR just fine, and has a push button on/off switch that is programmable.

Other than those 2 that are good quality, I am not knowing.

ETA: Check out the Streamlights too.

Streamlight 88031 Protac Tactical Flashlight 2L

Barska GLX 5mw Green Laser

Those are the models I was already considering.

Keep that sonafabisch away from boats and water.

And if you are really interested, look into a .300 AAC complete upper, you dont even need a new bolt, it will pin right on to a standard AR lower and fire .300 AAC BLK. The only thing different is the barrel size and gas tube.

aight... but, i gotta say, and you fellers that have always liked em, dont take offense.. i've never even looked at them or held one, or really had any desire to talk about them,,,,, right up until a couple of months ago. I started thinking about what the dollar was doing, and realized i might have a little more rice and beans, spam and tuna in my pantry than most and there might be a chance that somebody might want to get my spam. If I'm home and they try, we gonna fight over my spam...

General update regarding AR pricing:

In surfing Gunbroker this AM, it appears the fever may be quelling just a bit.
Looks like you can buy a NIB Colt 6920 for ~2K.
It also looks like may of these are re-lists.
Chandelier bids work great for getting a price up, but not too good for actually collecting.

Given this, I wouldn't be paying a ton for a DPMS or a Bushmaster.

Just an opinion.

So with Umbrella's website problems last night, they posted this on Facebook

quote:

Because of the website crash the first 100 folks to post "sold" will have the option to purchase one lower. We will set up a special email for this that we will post shortly. You'll need to send your phone number and we will call tomorrow for CC info. If you post "sold" but fail to purchase when we call, or you fail to answer the number that you give us to call, your lower will be offered to the next in line up to #100. We will also continue with the scheduled sale tomorrow and Sunday as planned. Thanks for hanging in there and we really appreciate you guys that have supported us. Speaking of which, we have the absolute right to skip your post no matter where you fall in the line up if your comments have been less than dignified on our facebook page.

From what I saw last night, they weren't prepared for the reaction and were overwhelmed once they're site kicked the bucket. I expect to see more of the same tonight and tomorrow.
