At the price point, I won't be too upset if it breaks down after hard running. The APL on the other hand is solid as hell. I've seen some impressive torture tests that it survived.

Anyone hear anything about MOA shift issues with the Aimpoint T-2? I was ready to pull the trigger on it over the T-1, but was just reading this thread on Ar15 that got me wondering.

quote:

Three separate T-2's here, all replaced by aimpoint, damn near same results as yours. Mine were between 4-6 moa shifts depending on the T-2.

T1s are all I run.

This is exactly why. Told aimpoint reps about this problem, seemed as if I got nowhere despite repeatable results. I even insulted Andrew Bobro by asking him to replace a mount he sent me hoping desperately that aimpoint wouldn't give me 3 turds, and maybe it was my mount. It wasnt the mount, the mount was, as all my other Bobro mounts....flawless.

Wanna see something funky?

Set a visible laser to your irons, without the T-2 in place. Then....put the T-2 on your rifle and look where the laser is now, relative to your irons. Leave the T-2 off.

Your laser won't be in the same spot relative to your irons. Say hello to your optical shift.

Test 2. Zero your irons with the optic off the rifle. Now, put the optic on your rifle, zero it. Now, deploy your irons and cowitness them. They won't line up, I promise.

Viola. Aimpoint, your T-2 blows, and I told you about this months ago.

After reading through the whole thread, it seems like a non issue when your sights are folded. They say if yo want to shoot irons to take the Aimpoint off and you wont have the problem.

Why would your red dot line up with your irons?

That's not how this works. Zero one and zero the other, they aren't used together. 2 separate aiming systems that don't work together.

If using your irons turn the dot off or take it off so together. I mean that's why everyone buys those super cool larue mounts that hold their zero right?

It's called "co-witness" and it is a thing.

I never really understood the whole back up irons anyways. I spent all this money on a red dot so I don't have to use iron sights.

no matter how much you spend, electronics are prone to fail

True. I understand having backup irons if you are in the military or law enforcement, but for a range gun or hunting gun they don't seem necessary to me.

Ya, i understand the theory and reasoning. Problem is what you see here, where it doesn't work.

Haley D3, Blue force Vickers, or Magpul ms4 for sling, Surefire, Streamlight, or Elzetta for light, aimpoint for expensive red dot, primary arms or vortex for less expensive red dot.
