This thread has been great for noting which OB posters I will not be inviting to duck hunt this winter.

The major issue I have is the ego stroke he tried to make by taking a lion with an arrow. He did not make a clean kill from what I understand, and the animal was found wounded the next day...and finished off. Use a damn rifle.

You could apply that statement to all bow hunting

Therefore I disagree

I'm not a bowhunter but I respect those that do because I know it's a bigger challenge

Not true. Elimination of apex predators has more to do with it than anything.

It could be argued that the likelihood of a kill with an arrow on a deer is much higher than that of a lion. I'm not too hot on bow hunting in general, but particularly so on big game. I don't have issue with the "trophy " hunting if done properly, but this hunter failed to make a humane kill with the arrow.

I don't eat coyotes, nor crows, and don't see how killing them is an ethical problem considering the damage they do to other species and crops.

I don't eat feral cats either.

I don't kill anything unless I'm going to eat it, or it's trying to eat me.

Guiding will turn you off to trophy hunters. Too many people having more money than common sense. However, to each his own. If a guy don't feel bad about killing only for sport, my feelings on the matter are inconsequential. I appreciate every animal I kill for food and get more enjoyment watching animals like bears in the wild than I do shooting them. Not everyone shares the same values though.

News reported it took 40 hours to track and finish it off with a rifle.

If a had 50K to blow to hunt a loin, I would, but it would be done legit.
