2 cycle engine was ran with straight gas. Ran for less than a minute then stalled out.

I cleaned the fuel tank, lines, carburetor, sprayed the carb with starter fluid and checked the exhausts for any clogs.

Couldn't find any sockets to fit the spark plug to work on that.

Odds the engine is locked up and my blower is trash now?

Probably done. Scores the piston up and makes rings stick.

What happens when you pull the cord? Is it stuck or does it move?

*Not a mechanic*

Pull head off (if piston is locked up). Fill cylinder with penetrating oil. Let soak. Use wooden dowel and hammer to punch and free piston. Check cylinder wall for scarring.

If it locked up quick, you may be able to salvage it. Odds are, she fried.

It cranks, but nothing happens.

That's what I'll attempt to next when I have some more time.

me neither. that's why it took me 2 hours to clean the carb, mostly because i kept trying to put the spring and the pin on backwards.

Then it's not locked up. It's some other issue. Fuel or Spark are basically the only other options.

Thanks, will try to get the spark plug out later then. Clean it and fire some starter spray on it and see what happens.

Take the spark plug out. Press your thumb over spark plug hole and pull starter rope. If the compression from turning the engine over blows your thumb off the spark plug hole. You probably didn't do any or much damage running it on straight gas.

Thanks. Was wondering how to do a compression test.

If the engine is locked up, you won't be able to pull the cord. You could open it up and check out the cylinder and possibly rebuild, or you could clean everything up and try and run it. Gonna have the same outcome either way. Your choice

I vote the latter

Since it did not lock up and ran for less than one min. it is probably going to continue to work a while, just smoke a bit more than before.

I would try to get the plug out and add a few drops of 2cycle oil and pull the cord a few times prior to adding fresh gas for lubrication purposes. JMHO

take head off go get a cheap brake cyl hone and hone the cyl then buy a new ring re ring it gently wet sand the piston 100 grit it may work if not just over bore it and get a new piston and ring kit still cheaper than buying a new one usually

So where are you at now?
Its not locked up, you know that. Had a chance to replace the spark plug?
I think you'll be fine.

Don't take the head off. If it ran for less than a minute the head is probably fine. Only warps when it gets too hot. Did NOT run long enough to warp head. Only reason to pull head would be if it was damaged prior to this one instance.

Odds are that the fuel lines in the blower have a crack in them from Ethanol exposure. Check your fuel lines and the primer bulb. Look for a crack or several cracks.

If you want to know for sure if you have a fuel problem spray some starter fluid in the intake and it should start right up and then die. You most likely have a fuel issue of some type.

Squirt a little bit of transmission fluid in the spark plug hole. The transmission fluid will seal the cylinder up and it will crank then start running bad once the transmission fluid burns off. If it does this then your cylinder is scared and you just need to throw the machine away

Gonna go get a deep socket for the spark plug on Tuesday.

I'll update after I go through most of the suggestions, starting with the spark plug and compression.

Thanks for all the help!
