They'll bite it, settle to the bottom, turn it sideways in their mouth, then start to eat it. Typically if I feel a bit I'll relax my rod, sometimes even let some slack, count to 30, and then set the hook. Even doing this I've still reeled some in that were only holding on by the tail of the jig and never had the hook in their mouth. Teaching myself to be patient was the toughest part about learning to target flounder.

I actually used that video to learn and may have stole his cigarette line, it's been a foolproof method so far.

If you're going to paddle to Old Camp then throw out a jig or even a tandem rig and troll it the whole way there. Maybe about 500 yards off the bank or so, heck I've even picked up trout trolling the main canal to/from the cove. If you pickup a trout in the cove, anchor and make a few cast, you may accidentally find a reef. Also, keep an eye out for birds diving.

ETA: And of course report back your results so I know where I need to be fishing this weekend.

I am so overwhelmed by the choices, I fear I will not be able to cast.

Started in the marsh. Zero bites. Talked to a lady fishing live pogeys in the marsh bayou catching some trout to tag and release

We then ventured to the lake. Looked for birds. Found some. Never had so many trout bites on artificial on any trip ever. We only kept 46 because 1. we were not good at keeping count, 2. we did not bother measuring close ones, and 3. because we just were not careful about landing every one. We missed a ton of bites as well. No way to accurately estimate the number caught or bites, but I'm thinking 75 to the boat and 125 bites.

I caught my first dozen or so under cork on a Zoom spinner bait trailer on a crappie jig. I think too many people overlook that type of tackle. I was missing a lot of bites ad my partner starting catching on a jig, so i switched to a matrix shad in Opening Night on an umbrella rig head. That was pretty good. Partner needed a change, so I gave him a package of Reaction Innovation Little Dippers(My favorite bass swim bait) and his bites picked up dramatically. His were more bouncing off bottom. Mine were more just swimming. About 5 were what i would call big trout. Rest were either just no brainer keepers or close to 12. I never caught a clearly short fish. 1 rat red. No flounder.

You would know I'm now on call this weekend so no fishing for me.

Looks like you're not even too far off the bank, did yall try to make it to Old Camp?

I'm assuming hiding what would sorta give away location, if that's the case then I know exactly where they were.

Oh wow. I must have touched the screen when toggling through color options. First time to edit with a tablet.
