well you idiots are about to get what you asked for.

now the redfish limits are to be cut in half as well.

pretty soon it will be 100% catch and release only.

LWF Commission Amends Notice of Intent to Modify Red Drum Size and Bag Limits

quote:

This past week, the WLFC passed a Notice of Intent (NOI), to recommend

a 3-fish daily bag limit for redfish between 18 and 27 inches with no bull reds over 27" permitted.

Also, charter guides would not be allowed to catch their limit.

The current regulations allow 5 redfish between 16 and 27 inches with one fish over 27 inches.

The amended NOI will now go before the public for a comment period and then be sent back to the legislature for oversight.

you can read all about it here LINK

The majority of them can't adapt to changes and blame the lack of their catch on a lack of fish instead of their inability to fish something other than the same point every Saturday.

Charlie Thomason's guys are a perfect example. They catch limits every day regardless of time of year/weather/etc

yep they use the excuse they cant catch fish as their scientific proof the limits must be reduced.

cant tell you how many times i get to the launch with a limit or just shy of a limit of 25 and often several reds as well, and there are jackasses there with less than 5 fish in their boats talking about how there just arent enough fish any more

sad thing is these idiots are voting and agreeing that limits must be drastically reduced.

This is not new information. It does seem they raised the slot back to 27...they were originally going with 24.

I can't tell you the last time I brought back a limit of reds...not for lack of catching...I just keep what I need.

Stop exaggerating. Louisiana is currently the only gulf coast state that allows a bag limit of more than 3 fish. TX, MS and AL are all 3 red limits and the gulf side of FL is only 1 red per day

ETA: and the NOI comes with a sunset provision. So if the redfish surveys over the next few years show improvement, LDWF can let the new regs expire and it’ll revert back to the current 5 fish bag 16-27” in 2028

Not gonna go back and forth with you because you are clearly an idiot but some of the best fisherman I know support the redfish limits. Guys who I’m certain are much much better than you. I’m all for hearing out solid arguments on both sides but you are either trolling here or too stupid to realize how dumb these arguments actually are. Congratulations because it’s pretty impressive either way.

that’s a hangnail

The cancer is the exponential increase of habitat loss degradation of last 50-60 years. Diabetes is the pogey boats. Limits on recs are simply telling the afflicted to get more exercise and eat better.

Limit change and slot crippled bow fishing

Yeah this is where I draw the line. No restrictions on pogey boats but fricking with redfish limits? This is what will make me start picketing and getting involved.

We let industries that line our politicians pockets rape our wildlife and fisheries and blame Joe Captain and his limit. This state is fricking broken

they are part of the trifecta but not the issue, what has happened to our habitat over the last 70-80 years is THE issue.

They’re about to. As of January 1, anyone bowfishing needs to get a free bowfishing permit. LDWF doesn’t have any real data on how many people bowfish, so the permit is meant to help them collect that data to determine whether future regulations or restrictions on bowfishing are needed.

I’m not a fan of bowfishing, but I don’t think it has the impact on redfish numbers that some people like to think it does. Bowfishers are a tiny fraction of the number of people chasing reds with rod and reel. I think bowfishing probably fricks with our duck hunting more than the redfishing because of airboats and surface drives running all over the marsh all night never gives the ducks a break.

At least in the cocodrie area, I don’t think it has much of an impact. Despite that, I would be fine with bowfishing restrictions during duck season.

I agree with the bowfishing....I think it needs a tad of restriction, just my $.02.

Second. Where do we think Jeff Landry and his new Wildlife and Fisheries chick from South Dakota land on this issue....do you think the red thing gets reversed and eventually the trout too? I wonder how they feel about the pogey boat issue....it'll be interesting to see what happens, if anything!

Have they missed a NOI on forcing pogey boats to fish offshore or stated the United to enforce the current pogey boat distance ?
