It just happens to work out for an old friend of mine and me that this coming Saturday is the day we can both make a quick trip to Grand Isle. We are not participating in the rodeo in any way and plan either to surf fish or kayak fish either on Grand Isle itself or Elmer's.

I expect there to be plenty of company down there, but can anyone comment as to whether it will still be possible to get bait (we usually go to Bridgeside)? My thinking was that it will be crowded by that we should still be able to find a place to do the humble sort of fishing we have planned.

Thanks,

Yeah its going to be tough as hell. I'd try to buy bait up the bayou somewhere if you can

As long as you come in early, traffic will be ok

I'm not sure how crowded Elmer's will be. It seems like people are either going to fish or to party heavy.

I doubt you get bait. Shrimp were scarce last weekend. Trout were not hitting the croakers.

Good grief, i would never go to GI during the GITR unless I was participating. It will be an absolute circus. Go to Cocodrie.

I am thinking of doing the same thing but going tonight and fishing tomorrow then come home. I was wondering the same things as you. The tide looks pretty good for tomorrow morning, but I dont know if I want to go all the way to the island or just fish around Elmers/Fourchon.

Try Carmadelle's right across the pass from Bridgeside. Their bait usually isn't as good as Bridgeside's, but you will be much more likely to find it there.
