Looking to go camping tomorrow. Anyone have experience with this new permit yet?

I’m wondering if you have to get it online or a store, or if they also have setup a cash system at the campgrounds, similar to the national forest campgrounds?

I’m going to call tomorrow. If it is online only kind of sucks if you’re not sure how many nights you’re for sure going to stay.

Just download the app and you can check in right from your phone.

You’re referring to the self-clearing permit, I’m referring to the per night camping fee, which cannot be paid on the app.

Wish MS would go to something like this. There are campers already parked in locations where I hunt. They’re only supposed to be allowed to stay for 30 days then they are supposed to pull the camper out for at least 24hrs. But there’s no way to regulate that. I’ve seen campers in a site from Oct to Feb. And don’t get me started about the trash they leave behind when they pull out in Feb.

I don’t mind them charging.

Spoke to wlf and was told you have to pay it online.

I’m not sure. Sherburne, attakapas, wax lake and atchafalaya delta all have campgrounds.

Thistleswait does not. If it’s not one of those you’re interested in, I’d look at the map that has wmas then you may have to click on them specifically.

You can do it online or at Walmart, academy, etc. I always get it at the store because of the $5 fee that comes with doing it online.

Online payment also includes a $5 payment fee and nowhere does LWF have a procedure of check in or out. I've messaged LWF twice with questions regarding the camping permit, only to be referred to the regulation pamphlet which is clear as mud. The permit is mentioned twice in the pamphlet and one says $7 per day and the other $7 per night. If it is per day does it mean your $7 expires at midnight? LWF has turned into a money grab and can't get that right.
