Shouldn't the lids be open during precooling? Sort of defeats the point if they were closed.

I don't think it matters. The chill will cool the insulation down regardless of if the lids open or not

yetis are worse than cancer. And the people that own them are worse than the yetis themselves.

The only way it would be fair would be to have a thermometer inside the closed ice chest. Thermal conductivity and stuff

Sucks that K2 didn't get tested. I was really hoping to hear someone else talk about how bad the K2 latches are.

This is not a very well done test. 1)The chart and written part show completely different results. 2)They should have made a better attempt a using similar sized coolers, because volume could vary the results. 3) Instead of precooling, all they had to do was leave all the coolers in an identical environment open for a couple days so that the core temps were all the same. Then you could get a better idea of which cooler hold ice the longest. All this being said, 99% of people would never need an ice chest to hold ice more than a few days, so what does it really matter. Buy what you want, its your money.

Totally honest,

I had the yeti 120 i borrowed for a beach trip few weeks back (i made thread)

We kept yeti inside condo to hold ice and some beer and all. Every morning i would make my other ice chest getting ice out etc.

totally wasn't impressed with yeti, the ice was last 2 not even 3 days in that ice chest in an a/c'd condo. Was no better than a damn coleman etc.

It's a freaking ice chest.

How do you test that fill them both with ice then drop them from a crane on top of each other until one gives out?

If the Yeti 35 is less than 35 qts. are all Yetis less than advertised area wise. frick Yetis just on this alone. And my wife got a 45 for a safety award last year. Took it Destin, stayed inside the condo and had to add ice evar day. It was half water and half ice. I believe the one thats made by the kayak co. and its the one with the lifetime warranty too, right, is the winner.

Yeah I haven't seen anything to make me want to spend the money. Wife won me one a couple weeks ago in a raffle though, 20 qt, so I am ready to try it out.

My Yeti 45 and my Engel 35 are the exact same size. I mean exactly the same size. It's not exactly a secret though, they clearly list the dimensions on their website.

I must be the only one who has never had ice retention issues with yeti. There is a 45 sitting on the bow of my boat right now with ice from an ice machine on Saturday morning before daylight. I typically get a week to 10 days out of if if I put it in the walk in cooler the night before leaving. I cant imagine a 120 losing ice over just a couple of days unless it was ice from an ice machine or it's been opened a 100 times.

From the article:
quote:

We've all grown accustom to Yeti and their features. They are probably the oldest and most trusted name in the cooler business.

From Yeti's site:
quote:

In 2006 we founded YETI Coolers with a simple mission: build the cooler we'd use every day if it existed.

Which is why I bought them for our LSU tailgates. None of these other brands were around then.

No broken latches, no cracked hinges or broken lids...

I'll buy more if I need 'em and save up for the back surgery.
