On one of the gun shows recently, a Beretta guy was going through all the changes over the years. He said the slide mounted safety was a request at the time. Seemed odd to me.
If I worked for Beretta, I'd blame that abomination - (a) slide mounted, (b) and flips "up" to deactivate the safety - on somebody else, too.

Waste millions on something that, for all practical purposes, will be no better than the current M9's or the M9A3 instead of properly funding any of the numerous missions that are currently underway.

Then you would be an honest person like that guy was. The earlier 92 models had frame-mounted safeties.

I'm active duty. New = we made the same ole M9 a different color, added a light rail that already exists on the M9A1, the first attempt to retread the M9, and added aftermarket nite iron sights.

The Beretta M9 always had to thick of a grip for me. That looks absolutely perfect though. really want to hold one. Does it come in black?

More precisely, only the earliest version had a frame-mounted safety. It was changed to a slide-mounted safety at the request of some Italian LE & mil agencies, and remains there to this day.

John Wayne never used no stinking slide-mounted safety. Them things is unamurican.
