For the past 15 years, the Muscovy ducks in a neighborhood called Woodwind Lakes have destroyed flower beds, crapped in pools and on front porches, and been run over by cars. No one is quite sure where the ducks came from.

quote:

To euthanize all 130 of them will cost the HOA about $13,000, which is pooled from all the residents. But President Ray Pavia says that after endless complaints and headaches, it's worth it.

I could do it for the gas money, a case of 3" #2's and 2 cases of beer.

They could have sold tags and made money on the deal. Yankees or Californians, I could see, but Houston?

What in the hell is the world coming to?

they can euthanize them but can't move them down the way.

Yeah - because they're invasive - so anywhere they're native, they're protected. Anywhere they're invasive, they can be killed but not moved.

But, I'm thinking more *BOOM* (dinner), *BOOM* (freezer), *BOOM* (brother-in-law), *BOOM* (freezer), etc. And charge guys to come shoot them. Even if they spent all the money they charged the hunters on clean up and such, way cheaper than $13,000 to essentially incarcerate them and give them lethal injections at $100 a pop.

When oil was $100/barrel all of those frickers kept coming down here. Unfortunately they haven't left. They're like sophisticated versions of an undesirable Katrina refugee, but instead of stealing shite and killing people they bring their pussy arse politics and ways of doing things.

I have a Muscovy who has taken over the block. This duck is absolutely fearless. He walks in my garage and hangs out with me while I'm working. He is eating people's pet food.

ETA: We named him McQuackin

My street would never have this problem. Especially if they're good to eat. I didn't know that.

All they had to do was tell the coonasses they could have them for gumbo and they would all be gone over night.

Not one dude with a set lives in Woodwind Lakes. I think that after you killed all the ducks you would have your pick of women to spend your 15k on.

Yeah, I gouged em, but who is gonna bitch? They can't handle a duck

But ugly.

We have 12-15 in our neighborhood lakes (plus two dozen Canada geese). Al of them act like they own the place, walking across streets in files, just begging to get run over.

We used to have mallards in the lakes, but no more -- I guess they don't want to associate with immigrants.

Call the local office of Hunters for the Hungry. They could set up something to benefit the food bank, or a local soup kitchen. Much less bitching about the slaughter if it goes to feed the homeless.
