re: Need some help training my pointer for upland

Bumping this thread. I've got a rescue that appears mostly Pointer (don't have any history for him), and at the very least, has a great nose, and is already pointing at the ducks behind the house. Have to keep him away from recent crawfish boil yards or he will forage for hours.

I'm in Baton Rouge, and have no problem sending him off, though I'd love to find someone local. What age is the right age to start? I just don't have the time, and although I trained my Golden years ago with a hand from Dick Russell, I'm clueless about the upland aspects.
