I am almost 40 YOA and have been an outdoors guy my whole life and have never had a chigger (KNOCK ON WOOD). My granddad always said put clear fingernail polish on them or take a Clorox bath.

I've given him the tools he needs. He just needs to do this. I'm a professional chigger killer

broke, you could skip all your hourly steps and procedures if you just sat your old arse down in some bleach water in the tub, and kill their arse before they start pussin' up.

Yeah, I've been scratching the shite out of them today. I don't have Clorox here at work, but will apply tonight. Today hasn't been so bad. Looks like I'm going to pull through.

quote:

put clear fingernail polish

Does not work. This was thought to kill the bug that was eating under the skin. However, the bug doesn't enter the skin. It basically bites and vomits up digestive fluid which creates a channel for sucking out blood.

You can really only treat the symptoms until manageable. The symptoms suck.

Clorox bath & calamine lotion. I also usually dab a cotton ball in straight Clorox & put that on each bite, dries the bite out quickly-burns & stinks but beats the itching & scratching.

First off, you can't call them 'chiggers' anymore. It's 'chigro'.........

Red bugs to be PC. Fingernail polish works. I probably haven't had them in 30+ years since I stopped rolling in the grass as a kid.
