Need me a good huntin dog....Update I got one

I've been looking for a bloodhound puppy for awhile . I found a breeder and put a deposit on a male about a month ago. Well, she called this morning and said that he was smothered this morning by his mother and she would be issuing me a refund of the deposit. I'm looking for a Black and Tan coonhound or bloodhound puppy again. A redbone coonhound would work also. She said she wouldn't be having any more bloodhound pups for several months.??
Update- I finally found a bloodhound puppy and picked her up today. She is 10 weeks old and her nose stays on the ground. I'm looking forward to the weather cooling off so we can spend some time in the woods. If nothing else the kids love her and she is eating up.OB... Meet Scarlet....

Fine looking puppy. I'm going to have one eventually. I read an article years ago about police bloodhounds and how good they are. The trainer said towards the end of the training they would send someone across a golf course on a Saturday morning right around daylight. Then they'd let people walk across the course and play all day. At dark they'd take the bloodhound and put him on the trail of the guy from daylight. When the dog would successfully find the guy from the morning, they new he was ready. Incredible creatures.

I've heard stories about bloodhounds finding prisoners after a couple days. I'm hoping that a fresh deer trail shouldn't t be that challenging for her if we can keep her interested.

if so may i offer you some advice...
you do not own a bloodhound, she owns you
they are the sweetest most interesting dogs you can live with, but you must not try to impose your will on her. they are super sensitive and HARD HEADED. if you can go with the flow and and let her do her thing, you will be rewarded with the best companion you can have

yes its on first one. I grew up with beagles.

other things...
ears, you must keep them clean or she will get ear infections
eyes, keep them clean
toenails...they grow like crazy and it will jack her feet up if you dont keep them trimmed (and she will HATE it when you clip, fair warning)
baths...bloodhounds smell like, well they smell like hounds. bathtime is a shitshow but needed
congrats man, you just got yourself a best buddy

I knew she was a keeper when I went out this morning and my wife was on the back porch with her in her lap.That has never happened.
We are going to stay on top of baths and cleaning as well.I am looking forward to having her around.She is going to be an outside dog so its going to be a regular thing.
