I haven't shot in I'd say 15 years.

Went to an archery store today and felt overwhelmed with the accessories now. It felt like I'd be customizing an m4.

Honestly I'd rather try to do competitions and not so much hunting. I'm not even sure if there are compound at hey competitions? If not is there a huge learning curve between compound and long bow.

I'm rusty but the mechanics have never been different bt bows and rifles for me personally

Any help would be appreciated. I'm willing to spend up to 1100 if compound 60-70 lbs would be ideal for draw back

I like the Z2 and you can get it tricked out for that price.

But I started archery hunting in January and have not killed anything yet.

All brands have good bows. I'm a Mathews guy but every company makes good bows for the most part these days. Shoot some and try em out.

Draw back every bow within $300 of your price pt and dont even look at the bame brand. Go with what feels the best. You may be surprised what $600 can buy you. The PSE Bow madness packages are an incredible value. So is the Hoyt Charger. I shoot a Hoyt Nitrum 30 and it is awesome to say the least, but i paid for it. As for as accessories, the only thing that i really feel is worth spending the money on is a quality stabilizer. I have a B-Stinger with interchangeable weighted discs and i really love the balance i added for shooting at long range. For competition i think a 12" model would help your groups out to distance.

Last year I spent a lot of time researching different brands and speaking with different people about which bow was best. The consensus seemed to be Mathews and Hoyt were top of the line and what I should buy. I went to my local shop and shot a few of each. I left with a Bowtech Carbon Knight. Point is, we can tell you all day what's great for us, but until you actually get out and shoot different bows you won't know what's best for you. Trust what feels best for you and you can't go wrong. Good luck.

Last bow I had was a pse. I've split arrows with that thing.

The store was also really busy today I need to go during the week to test them out

Shoot everything you can, find what you like, then go to archerytalk classifieds and save a few hundred.
