Need help getting bats out of my attic

We noticed a few weeks ago that bats are nesting in a portion of our attic. I have done some research on the subject and I'm not really sure how to proceed. One pest control specialist said that we will have to wait until sometime in September until all babies are old enough to leave the space. I have also read that it is against the law to kill them in some states. Not sure if this applies to LA. We're not sure we want to live with these creature in our house for two more months. Any comments and ideas will be appreciated.

Good luck man, you just became the proud owner of a major PITA no matter how you deal with it. I've heard the same stories as you as far as laws.

Find where they are getting in, wait till dark when they leave, cover entry point with stainless mesh.

What I had read was to anchor a trash bag filled with some peebles at the bottom over the entry point. Seems they will work their way out and will not be able to re-enter.
Remember, when YOU get rid of them they will find another place near to infest, just a FYI.
