I have a customer that wants a rod and reel combo. I hate when I have to pick out fishing equipment. Can I get a recommendation please.

Guy uses baitcasters he said 6ft rod, 14lb line. I have 3-400 to work with if needed

Shimano Curado 200I, 6.3:1 ratio

Carrot Stix Pro Grade, second one down in medium action

6ft is short for a casting rod, but it looks like he wants to stay a little lighter than what most people bass fish with. Really need to find out what he plans to do with it, also will determine if there's a better reel ratio for his needs. This is just what I would buy if I had that kind of money to throw at a combo, I'm of the opinion it's hard to go wrong in that price range.

I agree with the Shimano Curado 200I and the 6:3:1 is a good all purpose speed.

6ft is short, I use Duckette Micro Magic or Falcon Lowriders in 6-6.

Hadn't heard about that, I've always like the ones I've used. Thanks for the heads up, looks like they may have tried to cut costs on the slick.

You should ask him what he mostly plan's on fishing with the combo bait wise. If he plan's on using mostly moving type baits like crank baits or spinner baits a med action or med heavy with a medium taper would be ideal. If he plan's on using it for more soft plastic applications you would want a heavy to med heavy fast taper. Personally I use and recommend Lew's for the reel somthing like a bb-1 or bb-2z. The rod you can't beat a G'Loomis EX'6 for the money. It might be the best value for the quality on the market. The whole combo will run you about 350 and weigh less than 10oz pretty solid combo.

It's difficult to suggest a rod and reel without knowing the application. That said, with your budget, look into Dobyns rods. They aren't cheap, but I bought one several months back and it's one of the most impressive rods I've ever used.

The Curados are the best rod and reel combo ever made. Just acquired 8-10 from my grandfather because i just bought a new xpress X19 with yammy 175 sho. Will never have to buy another rod reel set ever again and they are already 20 years old. Don't do it wrong go curado!

I think I am going to pick up one of those new Dobyns Fury rods. Finally they came out with a rod in the $100 range.

All Star 6'-6" Med Fast $50
Abu Garcia 5600 C4 $140

All he will ever need, even without taking care of it. Reel will last a lifetime

Yeah I'm gonna put a couple on my Christmas list.

I splurged on a Savvy 663 with the micro guides and it's fantastic. And at $160, that's on their low end!
