Well, I thought i should follow up. I happened to run across an older, but in really good shape Remington Model 742 in .243. Very little recoil. Tried some 100 grain Core-Locks. Going to put some time in and see how it goes.

Blasphemy.

.243 is WAY TOO much Gun for these parts. What are you hunting? Cape Buffalo? Bull Elephant? Death Stars?

I have dropped many a deer with my old .243 BAR.

I think you will be quite happy with the rifle and the cartridge. I usually shoot stuff in the neck and the .243 rolls 'em up.
