Hey guys,
My first muzzle suppressor (a Silencerco Spectre 2) arrived at the end of April. I was surprised I only had to wait 3 mos. Since I didn't have a gun w/ a threaded barrel, I decided to buy a Ruger 22/45 Lite. Things have been busy so I've only shot it a little, but I'm pleased. Here are the first groups I shot after getting it sighted in. The groups were shot at 25 yds from a sandbag rest. The 2 groups on the left were shot w/ a Burris 2-7X scope; the target on the right was shot w/ factory open sights. The groups on the left were Remington Subsonic (5 shots a little low and to the right) and some 35 year old Federal HP's (4 shots a little higher up). I found it to be VERY sensitive to placement of the front sand bag; when the front sand bag was touching the suppressor the gun shot 2" higher at 25 yds. I'm very encouraged and look forward to playing around w/ it some more. I only have a few of the SS rounds left. Next I'm going to try Remington HP "Golden Bullets" and W/W HP's since I have a good supply of both. In the pic, the gun is set up for "night time urban animal control" w/ a green flashlight and pressure switch. Sorry the pic's a little fuzzy.

Be very careful when cleaning/reassembling the Spectre. Ensure that the channel notches on the baffles line up PERFECTLY when reassembling. I have found on mine that the slightest variance in this will start spraying rounds and not from baffle strikes. Also I would suggest making a position mark in white paint ,etc to maintain correct "tightness" of the suppressor to the pistol once you get it shooting it's best groups. (Think timing mark on an engine) Also check the depth of the threading on the Ruger. The Spectre does not do well on threading that is over .400" in length due to potential baffle strikes. For this very reason I have to run a spacer washer on mine when shooting it on my 10/22's.

Enjoy....looks like a great set-up

I have the same setup and agree with above, makes me wish I went with the sparrow instead of the spectre. Plus the sparrow is a bit smaller.

What's your barrel length? With a 4.5" barrel I would imagine it should keep much of the 1280fps stuff subsonic. At least it does on an AR. 4.5" seems to be the sweet spot on keeping most stuff subsonic out of suppressed AR's. 4" and you are golden.

Thanks for the useful suggestions, AUTimbo. I'd not thought of the witness mark, but it makes since.

nice setup. my next rimfire can will probably be a spectre. cant beat those click-together baffles

only thing that sucks about silencerco rimfire cans is the horrendous FRP.

HEH,
HaHa!! If you knew me you'd realize I'm one of the LEAST tacticool people around. In fact, I don't even have a single AR or AK and really don't have any interest in one. As far as all that "____" that bothers you, each accessory is there for a reason:
Suppressor-That should be pretty obvious.
Scope-My old eyes don't do open sights very well. Even worse is trying to shot open sights in the dark. As I said, the gun will be used in the dark. I might end up swapping out the scope for a red light some day, but will try the scope first since I already had it.
Green flashlight w/ pressure switch-Most animals aren't able to detect colors like red and green, making such flash lights useful for shooting in the dark. It's easier to see the animal w/ a green light than a red light. The light is a lot easier to turn on and off w/ a pressure switch than w/ a push button.

And as far as "ugly", that's ok w/ me as I'm sure you've heard that stuff about beauty and "the eye of the beholder"

Not really, at least to me. The gun itself if VERY light, only 22 oz.It seems to balance pretty well, as well.

That's the main use for now. Of course, I'll play w/ it a lot as well, just like one does w/ any 22 LR.

I'm on my phone so if someone else could elaborate.

Basically can purchase one there ways: individual, trust, llc

Most here have trust so multiple people can have possession of the item.

So setup a trust and then find a local dealer that has one in stock and buy it.

File form 4 and wait to pick it up in about 4 or 5 months.

I know we all have our dealer/shop preferences, with class 3 just find the closest shop with the item in stock. Waiting on a manufacturer sucks and just elongates the process.

I'll expand later, unless someone else does it.

Went on a hunt tonight. After a brief time, I saw a coon at 3 different spots along the creek, but it wouldn't cross the creek. There was light wind at my back so I wondered if that made it so cautions. It finally crossed the creek close to the bait. It grabbed the bait (a small sandwich that was spoiled) and ran off so quickly it left half the bread. I squeaked and it stopped, but was behind a tree. It went back into the woods across the creek. After a few minuets I scanned w/ the green flashlight and saw it standing at the edge of the woods across the creek about 35 yds away. When the crosshairs settled in the high shoulder/neck region I pulled the trigger. I thought I saw it roll down the side of the creek, but didn't hear it hit the water so I wasn't sure. After waiting a few minutes I walked to the creek and found it in the creek. It was a decent sized female. Off to a good start w/ the new gun/suppressor combo.
