I've been going on an annual hunt near Wichita Falls, TX. Last year was hot and we didn't kill too many birds.

This year, shite changed. We had a good cool front a week or so back, and another passed through Friday night the first night of out trip.

First place we hunted was a wheat field. Lots of Eurasian Collard Dove. 8 of my 12 were Eurasians. Nice little "warm up"...

Saturday we went to a milo field and it was ridiculous. Singles and doubles everywhere. Lots of groups 4 to 8. A couple times groups 30 to 50 strong hit the field, and at one time a group over 100 hit. We saw THOUSANDS of birds.

October cover of Wing Shooter Magazine...

We killed limits, with a few bonus Eurasians.

And I killed my first white winged dove.

Sing about that, Stevie Nicks.

I killed this whitewing last weekend in Texas. Never killed a double banded one.

Holy shite.

I saw someone else post a banded dove on FB recently. I didn't know they banded that many relative to overall populations.

Just take a crack shot at em, the whole bunch will dive down and get about eye level, then it's easy pickings.

We killed more white wings this year than any of the years past at our place. I think we probably killed 25-30 throughout the weekend. They look like pigeons compared to the mourning doves.

I'm jelly.

And I've killed tons of tagged birds, they all seem to lose their tags prior to me picking them up however.
