Damn. Really makes you think. Often times we enter undesirable weather in the pursuit of ducks. I am extremely guilty. I'll go out there in a hail storm.

No duck is worth your life. I hope they find him.

Man you hate to see this. You know they had every intention of being safe. Will be interesting to see if there was any fault or Mother Nature just got the better of them. Sad situation.

Not trying to be insensitive, but they knew the storm was coming and tried to go through it.

Sounds like a Darwin award winner.

I like how someone can just chalk up "Darwin Award winner" in the face of this situation. Not only is it in bad taste in general, but these guys were experienced hunters who knew what they were doing. Not saying they didn't take a chance with this weather, but jeez, Darwin Award? Some people just lost a loved one; and the other one still missing is a husband and lead singer for a pretty popular band in NWA.

Well, this quote sold it for me.

quote:

“In case we don’t come back, Craig Strickland and I are going right through Winter Storm Goliath to kill ducks in Oklahoma.”

They knew they were going through a huge storm to kill a duck. Maybe Darwin was a little harsh, but you have to admit its pretty close.

It's still sad, but this was 100% avoidable.

Not trying to make light of the situation as it is a terrible one but the fact that they were in a boat during some of the stuff that went thru here and they knew it was coming just isn't a smart thing to do at all.

Experience should have told them to stay home and hunt another day.

Kaw is a big lake I could see getting pretty rough in a storm. I hunt just south of it on the river

The wind was blowing it's arse off this weekend. What'd they expect?

Another reason I like taking a 4 wheeler to a flooded hole vs hunting a lake or river.

How does the Saying go?, it is better to be sitting on the dock wishing you were out there than being in a boat wishing you were sitting on the dock
