Anybody hear any reports from the last few weeks of big fish off the lump?

Time was when that place was a parking lot of boats and big fish being caught every day. Sounds like those days are over for a variety of reasons. Just curious if anyone is still taking a gamble on going out there.

And yes, I'm watching Wicked Tuna as we speak.

sure don't hear much about it anymore....of course, I don't chase tuna too much anymore either, so I am not in those circles most of the time...

Made a strong effort on March 1, no tuna. 5 Bonita plus 1 hammerhead on a chum line. Couple people did some jigging too.

I hear that there are plenty of MS and AL boats out there still.

I wanna try that Wicked Tuna technique where you pull the line into the reel with your hand. Not sure why.

I believe one of the treason they do that is to eliviate some of the pressure on the line to keep it from digging in or burying itself in the spool. If the tuna took of on a run and the line is buried in the spool it could fray it or pop from being to tightly wound on the reel.

Years pass, it was a hit or miss. A lot depends on the water temps, Mississippi river level and currents for the tuna to show up. There is another mountain to the southwest of the lump that produces even better. The surface is about 300' down. Look at your charts for it.

Also, the reason a lot of people don't hit is that due to it being away for most rigs, if the fish are not there, it's a long run to hit other spots.

ETA: It was a struggle all weekend for Yella fins. We fond some on a Rip but could not get them to bite. But one boat lucked up on Madusa and got 4
