Metal Building Finishing Question

I am building a Metal building 77'x52'. It will be cut in half and make half shop and half living space 38.5x52 each.
my contractor is wanting to use 1"x4"s to strip the purling to place the drywall on and 2x4s for the interior walls. any advice or anyone have experience with this. I was told that the 1x4 isnt strong enough to keep the drywall from moving and breaking at the seams. should i tell him to just put 2x4 flat ways instead ?
Another question he is wanting to just put the bat insulation long ways along the purling horizontal and its 4' to each purling. my worry is sagging over time because he will just stack 2' bat insulation on top of each other in the space. obviously if i use 2x4s i will get him to attach it to them and sandwich them between the purling and drywall.
any suggestions or advice?
TIA

I'm not a builder and don't know much about it, but I can't imagine why the 1x4's wouldn't work. Personally I wouldn't mind that as long as they didn't space them too far.
On the insulation, why not blow it? I have open cell in my shop and it works great. Good noise barrier too, but mine is about 8" thick

Holy crap. I've been lookin online to try and build exactly what you have there.

well the blown in on metal i hear isnt good due to not letting the metal breath and will produce sweat and condensation which will in turn produce mold.
jbeam...for 4000sqft of space essentially 2000 living and 2000 shop with a 15' porch on the front of the living quarters 12' side walls and 10' ceilings ....if done right... itll be done under 120k

Definitely. I would like to build something like this on the back of some of out property with intentions of turning it into a guesthouse/camp after some time.

1x4 stripping is what's used in houses to hold the drywall ceiling. It should be fine, but I would tell him to put it on 12" centers. JMO from building experience.
Also, stuff all the insulation you can in there. You will not be sorry.
Sounds like a fine place

Use metal hat channel screwed to the perlins or use small metal studs you can get either in different gauges to make sure you are comfortable with their integrity. As far as insulation, is he doing the batt insulation in addition to the plastic faced metal building insulation? If not why isn't he using metal building insulation designed to stay in place etc. Sounds like your dealing with a newb on this deal. Anyone that has done metal building warehouse, commercial, finished etc can do these things in sleep and there should be no issues

So the 1x4's are being used to hold the drywall up on the exterior walls? Or at the ceiling? A lot of old houses have something similar to scrap pieces of shiplap as battens. I would have the same concerns regarding the insulation in the walls, and would probably just pu 2x4's .
are you putting false joists in to hold up the ceiling?

Build the living side as if there was not a steel building there you will be fine use. The insulation will be fine stick with what the contractor is suggesting, do not make any penetrations through the steel roof go up then through the end wall or side wall DO NOT HAVE EVES on the building have over hangs over the walk doors. The Up lift is a concern on steel buildings & it will fail and wind driven rain in a storm will do more damage than you think.
