Pulled boat out yesterday and was trimming it up and down with no problems. All of a sudden it stopped trimming down. Is this likely due to needing hydraulic fluid replaced or something else?

relay might be busted or lose wire.

check and see if you have voltage at both wires going in the motor. fluid being low/needing refill would mean it would act funky going both directions

It was acting strange after I took it out. Then trimmed all the way up to get the trim lock up and it wouldn't trim back down. I can hear the trim motor running when I press down which I would think would cancel the idea of it being a bad relay out. But I could be wrong.

loosen the hydraulic manual tilt release valve and see if it comes down

Good chance it's just a solenoid. Mercs pretty common problem.

My Yammy had the same issue. I looked at a YouTube video and fixed. There are tons of videos out there that can help you.
