Does anyone have any recommendations for a Mercury marine mechanic in the Baton Rouge area? I have an Xr6 motor I'd like someone to troubleshoot.

Call BRSO and report a bad black dog.

Boat mechanics are the worst. They're a step above personal injury attorneys

Know a good one, old school Cajun out of the Cecilia/Arnaudville area though. Not sure how close you’re looking for.

Thanks for the recommendations y’all.

We would be happy to help you out. We are starting to get stacked up, so please call our office (752-3789) to set up an appointment. If you tried yesterday and got the answering machine, I apologize as our secretary was out.

Thank you. I did call a bunch yesterday and once today with no luck. I'll try again a little later.

What are the issues with the motor?, may not be able to pin point on a forum but may can give you a short list to check yourself or talk with someone about

It's going through power packs like crazy. Replaced them multiple times over the last couple years.

Does Merc from the Cottage fall into that catergory?

Does it ever run right after you replace your power packs?

I had a problem with my xr6 that the Mercury mechanic diagnosed as bad power packs. Turns out it was a bad trigger messing with the power packs. I pulled the flywheel and could look at the trigger and tell it was bad.

trigger is for sure something to look at but first I would take off and clean, redress, and double check all grounds on the motor. If the ground is compromised it'll eat power packs like candy.

I appreciate the suggestions. I may take a look at it myself.
