Taking the kayaks out Friday but this is the first time we have fished the marsh area between Fourchon and GI. Was just wondering where off Hwy 1 we should put in and if anyone knew of some good spots to catch. I know its a long shot since people dont want to give their spots away but any help would be much appreciated!

Gonna be cold Friday. Fish near the concrete bridges in deeper water with the current flowing

Go look for deep cuts and try jerk baits. They are my go to in cold weather.

It's gonna be blowing 25+ all weekend I'd leave the kayaks for another weekend

Try the pump at catfish lake at the public launch or side of the road La1

You can launch back at the 2nd bridge and paddle into the forbidden hole. I do that sometimes. It isn't the winter gold mine it used to be when I was a kid.

I would recommend fishing leeville.

actually they put the pilings in to stop the shrimp boats from parking in there during shrimp season. it was getting bad with 6 or 7 big boats tied up in there all the time

as to fishing there, I can say for certain, you are still allowed to fish there, people fishing there every time I go, even as late as last week, just not on or near the pipes, as long as you stay away from the pipes they don't say anything and the cops wont bother you. I did hear they might have plans in the works to fence off the pipes from the launch.

you can walk around the area and find good spots to fish all around there or use the yaks, that whole area around the launch is yak fishing heaven and well protected but that said, 25+ winds is a bit much and you might be better off leaving the yak in the truck but bring it just in case its not as bad as they said. the levees around there are pretty good protection from the wind depending on direction.

OP use google earth to see the area, its a free download great for scouting spots to try LINK
