I once got out of a DWI while boating because the 2 young wardens who checked us at the ramp were trying to trailer their boat in high wind and couldn’t do it. I had already trailered my ski boat and one of them was threatening to arrest me because I had been drinking (I was buzzed and probably slightly over the limit but not drunk). My friends were hammered and couldn’t hardly walk up the ramp and that drew attention.

I bet the wardens that if I could trailer their boat on the first try they’d have to let us go. They agreed and I hopped in their boat and drove it straight onto the trailer perfectly. They let us go

I realize you're playing devil's advocate to some degree, but let's actually have a discussion in what the actual discussion is about. Yes, there are unethical mf'ers running rampant amongst us in the hunting community that can give us all all a bad name, but bad apples should not preclude using the best available technology to recover wounded game. My $.02. And for the record, I had no idea this was against law in some states, so good to know, even though I've never utilized a drone...

You didn’t get the joke.

If you are a turkey hunter, stop and think for a second how deadly a capable drone could be on turkeys. There are no laws against this. There should be. There is no need for a better deer recovery method than a competent dog and handler. And they’re everywhere.

I use one to find deer several times a year. I have never used a light on it, there is a smot to mount one though.

I’m not trying to call out anyone here. But this is Pandora’s box. I’ve seen videos of people using them in the daytime. Truly remarkable what they can do. And scary.

I should probably not be wasting my breath here at the “game laws are nonsense” board, though.

With all of these fricking illegal aliens in our country killing 18 year old girls and beating up cops I'm so happy that our government is using resources to attack a law abiding sportsman who accidentally "shined a light" on a deer while trying to ethically recover a wounded one.

Great job guys, wait to go. I'm so fricking happy that's how you're using my federal tax dollars. fricking losers. Go do something that actually helps society and the animals instead of this pussy "gotcha" shite with an ethically responsible law abiding sportsman.

This sounds like something Louisiana WLF would do. Love the entrapment here also.

Seems like a pretty blatant entrapment there.

I actually understand this one. There was a guy who lived in Amite County about 30 years ago who had a bull bar on an old Datsun or Nissan. He was known to veer off the road in the vicinity of deer.

I could tell he was zooming in all the way and I asked him if he was trying to stretch that 5 round mag into a 10 rounder.

Was this in La? There's no limit to the mag capacity in La except for shotguns.

That's wrong on any level! Man tries to do the right thing by assisting a fellow hunter, but then gets arrested. Who give a rats arse how the deer is recovered? Only in America!

There is no equating laws and morality. The real difference is the right and wrong. And those things were not aligned with legal and illegal.

It’s no wonder good sportsman don’t trust law-enforcement.

There are too many instances of them out to get you.

The poachers have ruined it for everybody.

Made the mistake of reporting a dead bald eagle on the farm once that had obviously flown into a power line overnight. My God the feds did a full autopsy and found one lead pellet in the bird and tried to say we shot it. They went through our paperwork for the last several years trying to find one instance where we purchased lead instead of steel shot for our depredation permit for cormorants. Couldn’t find one, and forensics showed the pellet had been in the bird a long time. They determined it died from blunt trauma from….wait for it….flying into a power line

Bet owners/operators of wind farms don't go through this, and they slaughter hundreds.
