Haven't been out yet this year heading out with a buddy. Anyone with some recent success have any tips or suggestions?

A bunch of kayakers hit it today for a tournament, I'm sure one of them will post.

The past few weeks has been consistent with reds, even in crap weather. Trout are getting smaller as the bigger ones are going outside. Grass is coming in good. Should be on fire in a few weeks/months.

Fished marshes in Venice today it was windy and dirty, it was a mess. Managed a few reds but to say it was windy was an understatement. Hopefully you will be able to find some clean water we had trouble in of course a different area.

Yeah played golf this morning and the north wind was kicking. Forecast for tomorrow is for it to lay down some so hopefully we can find some clean water.

Fished Delacroix last Monday. Good mix of trout, reds, drum and a big freshwater cat. I usually do best in the pencil canal in one of the first cuts. People keep saying little lake but it never works for me.

I last went the day after the big deluge in late March. Ponds were full of crystal clear water above the grass beds. The water was almost too clear. We didnt start catching until the incoming tide brought a little dirty water in. Smoked the reds. Had about ten trout and two bass. I havent been lately with the NW winds and all.

Ended up checking out Pencil Canal with not much success. Winds were kicking until around 10 am and then they layed down pretty good. We then went down to Adema Pond and caught about twenty nice sized trout before running out of shrimp (stupid!). Overall a good day on the water.
