I am new to hunting and I find the regulations a little confusing. I was hoping you could clarify a few things for me. I understand when you can use certain methods of taking deer and hogs. I am just confused on what regulation overrides the other and whether or not I can take a doe or a buck.

1. Does the Pearl River WMA schedule override the Louisiana Area 4 schedule?
2. Does the Big Branch Federal WMA schedule use the Louisiana area 4 schedule?
3. Since Big Branch is bow only, is it either sex from Oct. 1 - Jan. 31?
4. Can I take either sex using a bow at pearl river during firearm bucks only dates?

I agree that its a PITA

WMA regulations > Area regulations

If you are bowhunting during the rifle season; rifle regs supersede the bow regs

1. Yes

2. Yes

3. No it would be bucks only Nov 15-Dec 5 and Jan 5-18

4. No, If it is bucks only that applies to all methods

A WMA's regs supersede the areas regs. The area regs are for all land in the area that is not a WMA

The above dates I listed are based on the chart you provided. I did not check the dates myself

Good luck

With the changes in La. I totally forgot to check the Cocodrie pamphlet re: either sex. Can't find it online now. Will check mine at home.

Don't forget if you are bow hunting on a reserve during gun dates you must comply with the required amount of hunters orange...
